20 June 2010

On fathers day I got lovely warm comfy new sheepskin slippers and a fantastic book on Information Design - I feel a break through coming here.
The boys love to play-fight with me on the bed.

We went to Mikes Kitchen (again) to watch the WC2010 match between the Netherlands and Japan. Our boys were not interested as usual, and wanted the toys from the machine (R10!!) also as usual. Neo got a beagle and daniel got a spaniel. That kept them busy for about..ehr.. 10 minutes, as usual.
Holland won ... as usual.
Close up of the reed type plants in our fish pond. Liked the composition. Sharpened and saturated with photoshop.

This is the BMW / Mini dealership at Cresta - I thought it had interesting lines in close-up. Some slight adjustments made in photoshop. What do you think?

17 June 2010

On my way to deliver a banner to antLantis this morning I spotted these two monkeys at the traffic lights on Barry Hertzog (Greenside) . Q: What have Karma, (Indian cuisine), got to do with gorillas dressed in gowns with bright orange turbans? No seriously, tell me?
By the way they are advertising a meal valued at R200 for R100 - will investigate as we do love our Chicken Kormas and Lamb Vindaloo.

Public holiday, needed to do something about my study. As wrtiten in previous posts I need to get my home office into a pleasant state. The collage above was taken during the clean up, it consists of ten image which I loosely arranged together to make a whole to show what the room looked like. (and some quick photoshop adjustments)
Bafana Bafana lost 3-0 to Uruguay. I was quite disappointed. However I am still impressed how well they performed compared to previous teams from SA.

Desperate times called for desperate measures. Hands frozen on the tablet / keyboard. Thinking of moving in the gas heater - a big one!

14 June 2010

13 June 2010

Sunday - Ghana vs Serbia at Loftus. I was given a ticket by a (very good) friend and tootled of to see the game all by myself. What a blast what an experience. The crowds were behind Ghana (African team) all the way. It was quite interesting how well one can see the game and the players compared to on TV which gives you a close up but you miss the peripheral perspective of the game. Note to self: "go see more live sports events and take the kids when they are old enough to appreciate it"

12 June 2010

On saturday I took some overseas visitors on a little tour to see some sites. From the Lion Park, to the Crocodile farm to Montecasino and then home for a traditional braai.
On the photo, Elvis the albino burmese python, we met him at the crocodile farm. Very mellow (yellow) snake.

Football World-cup 2010 kick off. The roads were the busiest I have ever seen. We decided to see the game between Mexico and South Africa at Mikes Kitchen, where the kids can run around and play on the trampoline, the jungle gym, the climbing wall...etc.
I was so nervous watching the game and I screamed so hard when SA scored and throughout the whole game that my voice still hadn't recovered by monday morning. Score 1 - 1.

ProfitClub with ActionCoach is great. We share our wins and losses and help each other with ideas for our businesses. We even get homework...
But the FIFA world cup kickoff concert was THE event of the day (world wide).
Here are some great photos.

9 June 2010

Today was quite a day in terms of the Football world cup. At noon there was a huge support drive in Sandton where approximately 180 000 people got together to show the South African National football team , Bafana Bafana, their support. I wasn't there but I did take a drive from Cresta to Auckland park and back. The spirit was everywhere. I even took the time to blow my own vuvuzela in the back garden. Took the kids to McDonald's tonight as Renita was away and my big boy wanted a hamburger.

8 June 2010

Today I felt a little flat even though I completed a project and even
started on the next. Nevertheless I was busy with all the daily
activities. I'm afraid the orang jacket will be there for a couple of
weeks, at least until the end of the world cup I'm sure.

Another image of my study. I want to record this as this is not (yet)
what the perfect home office (for me) looks like. Enough space, yes but
some organisation required. Yup, this too will change. I see it.

Sunday evening - this is a section of my desk. Time to tidy up or what?
It's very cosy around my work station to the point where sometimes there is just no space to put a piece of paper to write some notes or even do some sketches.
Notice the book there on the right? " Now discover your strengths" by Marcus Buckingham. Very interesting, fits right in with the Wisdoms program. It is a program (the book) about how we, as a society, spend too much time worrying about our weaknesses instead of recognising and really building our strengths. Definition of a strength : consistent near perfect performance in an activity. this is achieved by combining Talent, Knowledge and Skills.
Hmm, best I tidy up soon, regardless of my talent.

Northcliff mountain (hill) - The boys and I love come here and walk along the path and even scramble along the rocks. The view is always great. You can see the smog layer over the city in this photo. We really should try to take better care of our environment, our earth. Let's stop taking things for granted.
We are so blessed with our country, our nature, our weather, let's get out there and see it.
Oh, if you come up here by yourself , find your self a little spot on a rock right on the face of the mountain and do some serious meditating.

Wisdoms melting pot!
So much to learn, so much to absorb. Write it down, record it do what ever I can to retain it.
This stuff is valuable.

My first image

This is a photo I took of my computer screen.
You have to start somewhere, so why not here.
